Ford 3000 STUCK

I've recently been given my Ggrandfathers Ford 3000. Its in bad shape. It's not worth fixing but some of my first memories are riding on that tractor with him, so I'm gonna give it a try. First thing first I have to get it home. Sooner is better than later cause some family members seem to think that I have been given something of value that they wanted. Of course no one wanted it till I said something about it  Its stuck in gear and the clutch is seized. I tried to move it last weekend and had absolutely no luck. I can pay a guy to come move it with a roll back but I'll still have to get it towable before I can start any real work. Where do I start? Should I try to save a little $$ and get it rolling before its moved or just call for a tow?

It is probably locked into two gears.
Pull the top cover off of the transmission. Look at the shifting rails and forks. You'll see the problem.
Not difficult.

I assume this a manual transmission and not the S-O-S. Even
with the clutch stuck, you should be able to pop it into neutral
relatively easy unless the tractor is on some sort of and incline
putting strain on the driveline. When you start it, you can bring
the idle as low as possible and jam it into gear and drive
around for a bit occasionally stomping the the brakes. That
could free it up. I do that once in a while. If it is a S-O-S, there
is a traction disconnect that I have learned about on this
forum. Depending on the model, it is usually on the left side
cover plate behind drivers foot. I am sure you can get more
info from those experts here. Good luck with it. You say it s not
worth it, but I would not give up on it yet. BTW, ain't family just
grand?

If it has the manual type transmission you can do as UD says but if it has the SOS there is a lever on the left side below the seat you have to disengage to make it roll

You will see 3 shift rails... round rods with a notch in them. these slide forwards and backwards to shift the gears... the two on the right must be in the middle position and the one one the left must be in the forward position.. then all three notches will line up, looking across the side of the tranny. Then the trick.. is to put the cover back on with the shifter tip is in the notches or groove. It will probably take serveral tries to get the cover back on and the shifter tip in the notches or groove. Each shift rail or rod must be returned to the middle or neutral position before the lever is moved sideways to engage another shift rail.. If one rail or rod is not moved all the way back to center and another rail is move, the tranny is locked up and will not move. DO NOT try to drag the tractor as you will break a gear or worse, in this mode.

Thanks guys. I think i will try to get it freed up tomorrow and then maybe i can wench it up on the trailer. Im not sure but i think there might have been some dragging around of the tractor when it first got in the condition its in several years ago. Maybe they didn't break anything. Ive tried explaining to family that i only want it cause of sentimental value but they don't understand.

You sure I did a bit of work on a 300 a couple years ago ands if I rememeber right it was on wha twould be the clutch side

Yup, traction disconnect on the 3 cylinder S-O-S models was on the right side. It's a lever that looks like the draft control lever, with two detente holes in the center housing case to hold it in position, not like the setup with the locking strap that was on the left side of the earlier 4 cylinders.

Then let's say that the traction disconnect is on the right side for the 65-75 thousand series S-O-S models.
