Tonight i ran her up and down my driveway,1/4 mile at most. Got her back in garage and noticed she was close to red. Touched lower hose, was warm ,upper hose was hot.I let her cool completely. Started her up and ran without radiator cap to check for circulation, was then making a carb adjustment and radiator burped out 1/8 cup of antifreeze. Sure made a mess. From previous experience coolant never burped out . What would cause that?

You never said whether you saw coolant circulating in the radiator. Lack of circulation could be the thermostat not opening or the water pump not pumping.

It only gets hot when you drive it down the road 1/4 mile? Doesn't get hot just sitting idling? Could be a head gasket leak under load. You might consider re-torqueing the head bolts to spec in the recommended sequence.

You can buy a kit to test for combustion gases in the coolant at auto parts stores.

in automotive when the burp usually means air some where in the system. tractors I have never had tat problem. but could be an stuck thermostat that opened late.

If the upper hose is hot the water is at least circulating some.
Did you hear what sounded like a door knock just before the water burped out the radiator?
The system will have a distinct knock as the thermostat slams shut and the circulation is cut off. This change in circulation will also cause the radiator to burp.

Another thing I would check is air circulations across the radiator fins and/or cold spots in the radiator.
