Small Work. Big Improvement.

Ken just about has this 4000 gasser ready to put on the market.
I told him he ought to at least add the white stripe even if he wasn't going to add the decals.
But he wasn't much into the suggestion.
So I told him I would do it for him.
It took about 45 mins to tape it off and about 2 minutes - twice - to paint it. Rattle can epoxy appliance paint.
I think the tractor looks a whole lot better for it and suspect he'll agree when he sees it.

I agree - big improvement! Looks good. Too bad my neighbor is set on getting a diesel. .. maybe if Ken would take his POS JD 1010 on trade? :)

Decals will add 10 horsepower and 1000 dollars to the price.

Spraycan overhaul never looked so good.

I was gonna say this exact thing.....that white stripe added a grand to the price. He is gonna owe you!

It is just natural for the eye to like contrasts. that's a good part of why we like to break up the basic color with black gennys and starters, and lots of plated fasteners, when the tractors came original with most the same color as the base.

Absolutely on the money showcrop!
I like the black genny's/starters etc on mine.
I know it's not original, but I like it so that's normally how I do it.

Nice work UD! Sure you don't have a set of decals laying around?

The stripe definitely adds the "finishing touch". Looks sort of like a negative image of my '73 4000 which was originally a NY state highway mower, and it came from the factory as all yellow with dark blue wheels (not Ford blue) and a dark blue stripe on both sides of the hood and no decals.

looks great
like to own that one after you guys have went thru it,
but getting cold here, no more tractor buying until Spring...dang heat bills.

Like the other guys, I like some contrasting color here and there.
I usually don't put decals on em when I'm finished.
(probably has something to do with the hateful removal of old ones and their glue!)
But, when I did my 5000, stepping back and looking at it,
I paid the big money for me, to get the factory stripe/decals.
Something about that white stripe on the Blue ones that just 'finishes' it.
