Part 2 of rewiring a 3600

Got a 3600 that needed rebuilding/rewiring. Got the engine rebuilt. Started on rewiring. Only existing wires were starter and alternator wires going to external regulator and key switch. The tractor had a fire years earlier and subsequently was rigged up. No wires going to gauges. I purchases a new gauge cluster and wiring harness from this site. I did not buy any wiring for headlights or rear light.

[b:d7b62208f9]AT THIS TIME I DON'T HAVE AN OEM LIGHT SWITCH[/b:d7b62208f9]

I have ohmed out and got the starter, key switch, and alternator wired. At least as how it was wired when I got the tractor. The tractor at least will crank up now.

Attached are pictures of the gauge cluster, alternator, and back of gauge cluster. If anyone could comment on the questions I would appreciate it.

[b:d7b62208f9]E[/b:d7b62208f9]- Does anything connect to this pin?

First off, nice job on the pics and labeling everything!

First pic: You don't say where pin B goes to, and you have two C pins. Having said that, D & E are the same, and are for anything that needs to be powered by the ignition circuit (e.g. dash lights). I don't recall what the others are for exactly, I just use a test light to see which terminals light up in the various positions and figure it out from there. One of those is for the thermostart, if you have that option.

Second pic: C is power from the ignition side of the key switch. D leave empty. E leave empty. J is a ground terminal. You are correct on B if in fact the temp gauge is right behind it.

Third pic: Nothing goes on E. It is a ground stud, and is a duplicate of D. I would suggest buffing the paint off of D if it looks like E.

on ignition switch per the manual. Caution, this assumes your switch is number like a factory switch

pin 1 battery (brown)
and to Light switch
pin 2
Pin 3 Large pin to thermostart (Brown/red)
Pin 4 Ignition and Instrument power (white)
Pin 5 Starter (white/yellow)

Taken off of ford repair manual schematic.
