Ford 2110LCG - lever on right side behind transmission

I just purchased a Ford 2110LCG (1971). There is a small lever (about 4" long on the front right side of the rear end - just behind where it connects to the transmission. I'm trying to determine what that lever is for. This tractor has a SOS transmission.

Any info would be appreciated.

That is your draft/position control lever.
It switches between the two functions.
I can't remember which way is which.
One way is mainly for plowing the other for just about everything else.
Hit the link below and read the older thread - especially the post by Old Hokie for a detailed explanation.

The draft/position lever would high, just below the position lever iirc.

On sos.. down lower there is a rear end disconnect lever and a pto speed control lever.. cant remember which side and where. both are flat metal levers verses cast levers.

On the three cylinder S-O-S models, the traction disconnect is on the right side, down and rearward from the pivot point for the main 3 point control handle. The position/draft selector lever is just forward of the main 3 point control handle pivot point.

If it has the "deluxe" dual speed PTO, then the PTO speed selector is on the left side of the transmission near the inching pedal, and if it also has ground speed PTO, the ground speed selector is on the left side farther back.

Thanks Sean.

So the Traction Disconnect is to allow the rear wheels free movement in the event there is an issue with the transmission?

Yes, it isolates the differential from the transmission output shaft.

You use it whenever you need to move the tractor when the engine's not running.

You also use it whenever you want to put the transmission in gear with the engine running but don't want the tractor to actually move, like when you follow the procedure in the service manual to adjust the bands in the transmission. For that procedure you need to put the transmission into certain gears with the engine running at certain rpm's to properly adjust the bands, and you don't want the tractor actually driving away on you when you put it in gear.

That feature may come in very handy depending on how the SOS transmission holds up. All gears work perfectly at this point - keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks!
