Those C0NN and B9NN numbers are what Ford called casting or engineering codes. They are not part numbers although they look like it. If you tried to order a C0NN 501 A from a NH dealer the parts man would tell you there is no part with that number. You have to understand Ford's system.

According to my parts book the Utility, Row Crop and Offset tractors all use the same hydraulic lift cover so Ford must have made some changes to the design of the cover in 1960 and gave it a new casting/engineering number- C0NN 501 A. That "plate" just below the A should have a raised casting date code.

The B9NN A950 A part is unique to the Offset tractors and since the Offset 501 was introduced in 1959 it makes sense that it has a B9 (1959) prefix.

I don't see any casting or date codes in the 3rd photo. The upside down 3 may be a mold number.

In a previous post you stated that your son found the casting code 310845 on the transmission. There is probably a date code near that casting code. Here is a photo of my 851's transmission. The date code is right above the casting code.

Hello Alan , The lift cover casting number CONN501 is a over the parts counter replacement cover only and you will also notice there is no date cast into it as most did not have a date for some reason , that casting number was never on production tractors . Thanks Tony
