Adding Oil Pressue Gauge

Pressure switch for the oil pressure warning lamp is located near the oil filter. You could remove that switch to install the line for the gauge, or you could install a tee there to keep the switch while adding a gauge.

HUGE thanks... Im new to this machine and noticed some lights on the instrument panel but some gauges don't work. Maybe im weird but id rather see a mechanical gauge vs trusting a warning light.

Big thanks!

I like Sean's suggestion of a T so you can use both the gauge and the OEM idiot light.
A red light glaring is more apt to catch my eye than a fluttering or low OP gauge.

A tee is pretty clumsy. There are no less than 2 and probably 3 plugs that enter the oil galley on the LH side of the block. One has the indicator lamp switch screwed into it. Another is on the same plane aft of the engine oil filter. A fitting to feed a mechanical gauge would work there accurately.

I do kinda agree with ya... My gauge is so faded to there isnt much glare... on top of that for all I know it doesnt work or the bulb it out... Guess I could test the bulb ...

Even in my trucks im one know to always check my gauges .... every few minutes.... Im just used to it now... Besides working around the house its not like im in a huge rush and doggin my machine anyways...

I too like the T idea.. . What should I used... galvanized? Like Black Iron? Copper? Pvc? ...Just kidding... Really though whats the best...

I could hook up a low amp Piezo off that circuit ... like the boat motors have... now that would get my attention

I run a brass T on my 5000 for both.
Thanks for the tip on other spots to tap into.
Got the gauge up under the dash to check once in a while.
dash light got a new sender and works too.

On tractors I'm sorting out, I run a T if possible with a big liquid filled gauge screwed right into it.
I want to keep an eye on the pressure while I'm on the ground.

All my fast cars, I used to run Pro-Lights and a gauge.
They will really get your attention.

AutoMeter Pro-Lite Warning Lights 3240
gonna have to put me one on a tractor one of these days.
I must still have a few....somewhere...

I looked today and couldnt find the indicator lamp switch. I saw a sensor of some sort up high in the front of the engine. Im guessing that was hitting the water jacket for the temp gauge... I could be wrong.... Any where else I should look for the OP switch? Definitely filter side??

It's just forward of the oil filter, below the rear of the generator. The electrical connection is a single post that almost looks like a flattened rivet.

This little guy to the left of the filter and down a bit...by the ps pump?... Its missing the wire ( cant see where or how it connected) how to i unscrew this thing... its round and smooth... not like a hex head..

You've got the older style block that originally had the canister style oil filter and yours has had the adapter for the spin-on filter added, and mine is the newer style block made for the spin-on filter without the adapter, but that's the approximate spot where the switch is on mine. Clean all of that gunk off and it might be clearer how to remove it. Mine has 6 flat sides, but they aren't very robust looking and would probably round off easily if a wrench were to slip on them, so yours might just be rounded off and need vice grips or channel locks to get it out.
