8n no spark

I just purchased this little 8n. Its not really my
thing but it has near new tires and the price was
right, 750. The problem is it has no spark. It has
the front mag on it. Or maybe that is a distributor
and coil? I'm not real familiar with this set up.
I've got one with the side distributor running so I
know a little bit. Any of you guys have an idea
where I should start trouble shooting?

assuming a front dizzy and coil, check power to coil with key on. if power, but no spark, then put a test lamp inline with coil and turn over.. lamp should blink. if it stays lit, points are shorted. if it never comes on, they are coroded or otherwise not closing.

front dizzy comes off with 2 bolts..
 
Do you have the I-T FO-4 manual?? If yes it explains the front mount distributor and likely the points need cleaned or replace. Point gap on the front mount is 0.015 unlike the gap on the side mount which is 0.025
 
Thanks guys. I'll give it shot when it quits raining. I did notice the key switch is screwy and the wires to it are bare. I probably should start there.
