Calling a good Ford mechanic please....

I have looked into this before but still need help. I have both a Ford 4600SU and 4000SU. Strangely enough they both have had the same issue but in slightly different ways. The problem is the engines both run ruff at certain rpm ranges. So I started running a Opti-Lube cleaner and fuel additive in both of them. Magically the 4000 totally cleared up and runs perfect now. But the 4600 is just getting worse. Originally it ran ruff a 1600-1800 but now most of the whole rpm range is rough. I just replaced injectors but only improvement is at idle. Less smoke at idle now but no change otherwise. Could the pump be the issue? Engine is in great shape and cranks on a dime in cold weather. This tractor has less than 2000 hours on her.

Thanks[/list]

Tthis is a fairly common problem. the advance is not doing its job. Most times its rust, sometimes biofuel/varnish causes the advance piston to stick. Most times the engine will run fine at idle but fall apart about 800-100 RPM. The higher the speed the worse it sounds. If you have an issue like this it may be a good time for a reseal and freshen up. Should be a local shop that can handle that. Call around and price shop. 350-450 should be in the ball park. If no one wants to treat you right I would be glad to help you out. I have done hundreds of these. Good luck,,, Al 231/757/0064

So what does it mean to reseal? Thank you very much!

By the way, this tractor was not used for several years by the previous owner so makes sense by what you say. Not sure on this but I wonder if the injector cleaner is breaking stuff loose and causing some of this too. I did drain the tank and put on a new filter last month which should help long term.
