860 ford with original line green paint?

Just picked up an 860 that was torn down due to spun crank. All
parts appear correct. Its been painted red on the chassis twice,
but the rails, engine, axle, etc, all have a lime colored green
paint the that appears to the original under all the red.

is it possible to be custom painted for state or federal
departments?

I don't know if Ford took orders for non-standard colors as early as the hundred series, but I know that they would paint them whatever color was asked for on the 65+ 3 cylinder tractors when it was a fleet sale like a municipality or a state highway department.

Yes it could be possible, however as I recall the usual number for a run of a special paint scheme was 250 units so someone else likely has seen one similar to yours if it was factory paint.

It looks like original paint under red. Being a car guy, and used to restoring cars to authentic standards, is what leads me to this thought. But, under the hood is original red paint and decal. The green appears to be more a mint color. Ill degrease the the block and try to get some pic's.

Its probably nothing. Our 600 and 8n are normal factory colors.

what rails?

ag chassis shouldn't have any frame rails. rowcrop/offset will though, as well as some framed industrials..

or are you talking radius rods?
