1967 Ford 5000 Select-o-Speed

My lift arms won't go down . I have checked the aux. shift knob and the position control lever. What else is there to check or do ?

auxiliary shift knob????? 5000 SOS tractors do not have such a thing.

Does is have a remote hydraulic outlet? If so, is its valve on demand?

Is this tractor something you just got or do you know its history? Have you known this tractor when the 3 point worked? If it's something you've just acquired and you've never seen it work or if it's sat for a period of time, I might suspect your unloading valve is stuck.

Larry,

I suspect he's talking about the ASC (auxiliary services control) valve knob, the one nobody ever uses because they don't know what it's for.

My guess is that your main control valve spool is stuck in the raise position. The last time I had to deal with this, I removed the rear upper PTO shaft and shoved a broomstick handle inside and knocked it around a little to pop it loose. It's worth a try. Make sure the engine is off and that you're clear of the arms.

The other thing I was going to say is that I doubt it's the unload valve. If it was, the 3-point should still go down with the engine off.

The unload valve is usually the culprit when the 3-point wont go UP.
