Slow going, a couple hours after work each night, but I got
the radius rods and foot boards back on, steering back together.

Also got the lift arms back on.

Dash on, gauges in, wiring going back in.....

I'm not a big fan of painting manifolds, but this one was already
painted and I didn't want to buy a new one, so I repainted it.
Draincock was brass. I clear coated it.

Thanks GB, glad to hear you got a date and that its soon!
All is going well here, Joan has been helping on this tractor.
Her favorite part is when I paint and she gets to say "you missed a spot". LOL
Let us know how the trip goes, we're pulling for you both!

Looks great Royse! Have you ever had any experience with like stress cracks on the corners of the dash? Mine has one on each side about 2" long. Not sure if I should go ahead and Bondo it or just look for a replacement dash. Not sure how the filler would hold up to the vibration.

I haven't had to deal with one that was cracked, but I can see
how it could happen if they were not bolted up tightly.
All things seem to come loose with vibration over the years.
Except, of course, when you want them to!

I would braze the cracks shut. Mig welder would work and be
stronger, but would require a bit more grinding and finishing.
Maybe mig on the inside and a touch of filler on the outside.

If you're asking about the lower dash panel that cracks horizontally where the hood side panels attach then No- bondo will never hold up. The best repair you can do is to take another strip of metal and place it behind the crack. Then weld the crack together allowing the weld to penetrate the metal strip. Just about every 1953-1964 Ford tractor I've seen that had more than a couple of thousand hours on it has those cracks.

Nice work!

All of these pictures the last few days of machines being restored are inspiring me to post a few of my own. :) Stay tuned...

Kevin

yup. i've had to weld or braze up a few with 1/16 or 5/64 rod and grind down. some of them cracks went 2"
