ford 5000 gas

tractor# c211273 mod#B10243 engine# 81224c Unit#8625B Hyd pump#8F22B so thats all the #s I could find under the hood, It always act as it is running out of gas. Is there some sort of fuel pump on this tractor? When you take off the fuel line no gas comes out unless you are turning it over? The fuel line runs up to and out of the hyd pump or so it seems. Am I missing something here????????? Thanks,

Those gassers have a fuel pump on the front timing cover - behind the fan.
Remember there are 3 sometimes 4 fuel filters on that tractor.
One is a screen in the bottom of the tank.
Second one is a screen in the top of the fuel pump.
Third is a screen in the sediment bowl behind the carb and some but not all have a screen in the brass fitting where the fuel line enters the carb.

mod#B10243 is not a valid model number. First off, if the first character is a B then it is a 2000 series, not a 5000, and the last character should be a letter, not a number. My guess, is that the model number is actually B1024B, which would be a 2000 general purpose ag chassis tractor with a gasoline engine, independent PTO and a 6 speed transmission. If it really is a 5000 (easy to tell the difference as the 5000 has 4 cylinders and the 2000 has 3), then the last character couldn't be a B because the 5000's didn't have the 6 speed as an option, so it would have to be E1024E, which would be a general purpose 5000 with gasoline engine, independent PTO and a Select-O-Speed transmission with 10 forward and 2 reverse gears.

(Edit: Correction...Don't know where my brain was last night... couldn't be B1024B either, as the 2000 only had independent PTO on the S-O-S tranny, so it would probably be B1024E or E1024E).

C211273 is a 1968 serial number, which agrees with the 8 at the beginning of the Unit number, engine number and hydraulic pump numbers, which are all 8 so they should all be 1968 date codes, date codes as well, but the Unit number and engine number don't look correct either. The second character of all of the date codes should be letters.

Unit#8625B is most likely 8G25B which would mean that the tractor was assembled on 25, 1968 during the day shift.

engine# 81224c has too many characters, so I'm not sure what month to guess on for that one, but I'll go out on a limb and guess anyway... 8D24C, which would mean that the engine was assembled on on April 24, 1968 during the afternoon shift.

Hyd pump#8F22B means that the pump was assembled on June 22 1968 during the day shift.

Well, while I was typing all of that, Ultradog came along and gave you the info about the fuel pump and the multiple filters in that tractor, which were the same regardless of whether it is a 2000 or a 5000, as long as it has a gasoline engine.

It is a 5000 maybe someone changed the hood or tags Quite the speal on the dates though it is not my tactor, I am just trying to help this guy get it going

Thanks Ultra Dog,

Is the screen on top of the fuel pump inside a cover? I am not familiar with fords except pick-ups I have had the bowl of and seems to be clean and seems to come out of the tank when you turn it over it seems intermitent could the fuel pump be failing ? Is there a screen in the fitting just b4 the bowl? Where abouts are you in MN.?

Yes, the screen on the pump is behind a cover - single 5/16 or 3/8" nut right on top to remove it.
I'm in the Twin Cities. My land is in Aitkin.
