Hello fellow tractor people!
Currently repairing 1958ish 841 Ford Powermaster to be utilized around the farm, like it has been ever since it was purchased many years ago by my Grandfather.
Eventually, I'd like to have the Elenco kit, along with a loader and backhoe. I've utilized a carryall and built a bucket out of pressure treated lumber, as well as installed new stabilizer bars and a few other new parts along the way, with plans to convert an old silo winch into a logging winch; attatchable/detatchable via the 3pt hitch carryall bucket. The tractor starts and runs well. Eventually, it will look great too.
The half-tracks allow the tractor to be used year round, unless its icy (on a steep slope heading any other direction besides parallel to the slope) or very deep snow.
My question in this: The brake pedals seem to have little 'spring' to them. Are they supposed to spring up once the foot is off the pedal? Not that we use the brakes a great deal as it is. The shoes in the drum have plenty of pad, and the springs all seem to be set.
Anybody have any thoughts?
Edit: I have since realized the spring on the parking brake is broken on the left side. The spring will need to be replaced. Part number NCA2634A. RedRockMFG http://www.redrockmfg.com/ seems to have a parking brake alternative, pending make and model of tractor!
Still, on the backside of the drum it seems there is something that resembles a spring and a small, thin piece of metal that, to my current knowledge serve no purpose. Are they supposed to?
