Distributor Cap Issues

I need help. I have a 1973 2000 series ford tractor. I replaced the condenser and points, but forgot how the distributor cap fit back on. If I'm looking at the distributor is #1 heading south or north. This is a 3 cylinder.
Thanks,
E Perkins

It depends on whether the tractor is facing east or west.
Generally, #1 plug wire is marked on the cap and is situated at about 6 or 7 Oclock.
Dist turns counter clockwise. Firing order is 1,2,3 counting from the front of the engine.

Thank you so much. Tractor facing east, 6 or 7 oclock understood.
