got hood painted, fenders, grill panel but not egg crate
got both front rims done, and had just got the rears off when the weather channel predicted rain in a few hours, so i cut it all off there.
I was also down to my last dregs of paint in the can, so on the way to work i picked up another can for the rears.
got the front end primed earlier today as well.
used grey majic primer on the tin, and rustoleum brown primer on the cast.. looks decent.
tin is beater tin so I didn't try to fill bolt holes and dimples. i just sanded out and ground out rust, etc... heck. it ain't even the correct tin either.. or at least it's mix n match. tin for sure came off an SOS model. and this think don't show any signs of having been sos, unless the engine had been on an sos, and then they got another rc rear and any old 01 4 spd tranny.
Since the tin is so poor, i opted to blow it all grey, no red stripe down the center. had it been better tin i would have.
need to finish the rims and then i will be down to cast and things like the seat.. etc.
had to beat one of the rims off the hub it was rusted so bad. sledge and board and busted knuckles... blood sacrafice right?
ps.. on another note. Majic paint has apparrently gotten better.
i tried it when tsc picked it up after valspar was dropped. I hated it then.
I used it's metal primer, and paint and reducer and hardner. paint goes down pretty good.
Only thing is I think it's reducer should be faster.. and it's hardner is still slow like valspar hardner was.
i like nason hardner better. quik-cure. I love that stuff. I'll be using it for the rest of the project.
I may also experement with some naptha as a reducer for a faster flash. It is also mineral spirits capable fro mixing.. but I don't use that except for cast..
