Been cleaning up the NF that came along with my 4000. Have the before and after pictures here. Question is, does anyone know if the axles are separate pieces and screwed into the casting? Looks to me like they could be changed if needed. Mine have a few pits in them like I mentioned in another thread but if they can be removed with some heat and a 36" pipe wrench, I might try it. I'll take some measurements and turn a couple new ones from stock at the shop. I know...I should probably just leave well enough alone but I'm looking for some projects now that the kids are off to college and we're finally empty nesters! (temporarily, I'm sure....) I guess I could get the bow out and start practicing....

but I doubt it.

If anything is screwed in, it will eventually loosen and fall out...

never heard of that on a tractor.

Looking at your clear pics, looks like at assembly, a tube (where the inner bearing rests)

was pressed in and probably welded.

Then the dust seal steel ring was added and welded.

Then the spindle shaft itself pressed in and welded.

3 pieces, probable all industrial pressed in and welded in all 3 spots.

ps agree with everyone else, yours are fine

i would not even worry about the sealing surfaces.

them look fine.

they are not oil seals anyway...

Leave it alone. It's fine.

As mentioned in previous thread, the bearings do not rotate on the spindles. The pitting is a non issue.

Looks nice.
The seal surfaces do look a little rough.
I don't know about removing the spindles.
I would take some good measurements or bring your whole axle down to your local bearing house.
Have them check to see if there is a speedy sleeve that will fit those seal areas.
