Re: Where do I look for production date on my naa? in reply to jubileeguy, 08-11-2014 08:38:49
NAA was only made from late 1952 through 1954. Serial number changed location part way through production run from engine to transmission. Parts have been swapped over the years so the serial number will only tell you what year the tractor was made that left the factory with that particular engine or transmission, not when any of the other parts on the tractor were made. Also, since they switched the location partway through the production run, it is entirely possible to have a tractor with a later engine and an earlier transmission that does not have a serial number on it at al, and likewise one could have an early engine and a late transmission and have two different serial numbers.
Most major components including the engine block, transmission case, rear axle trumpets and rear axle center housing should each have their own production codes as well. It is best to look at all of the production codes and get a consensus of the date codes of the majority of components, as that is the year that "most of" the tractor was made.
