Ford 4000 - Where is the darn engine oil filler?

Alright, I feel pretty stupid.

1963 Ford 4000 4 Cylinder gas.

Where do I put the oil in this thing for the crankcase?

I only see two possible entry points:

1 on the side of the valve cover, there's a breathe there with a wingnut. Seems pretty awkward to try and get it in there.

On the passenger side of the engine, up front, there's a breather cap with a wingnut on it. I pulled it off and it has a baffle inside there with only about an 1/8" opening. Going to be REALLY slow pouring oil in that.

Am I missing anything? Where do I put this stuff?

The breather cap with the wing nut? The whole cap pulls up
and out of the 1-1/2 ? In. tube to add oil. The wing nut merely
allows you to clean the filter

Fordpig, it's the one up front with the wing nut on it. It looks like an 1/8" slot but it's really bigger than that. It will take oil pretty quickly as I've changed mine several times and never had any problem with an overflow from the filler tube. Might be a good idea to get yourself an owner/operators manual to show you all the fill/drain points for fluids on your tractor. You can find one in PDF format on a few other sites if you Google "FORD 4000 MANUAL".

Thanks guys, I thought that was it but wasn't certain. I guess I'll try pulling harder on the cap rather than taking the wing nut off.

I actually bought an owners manual, but all it says is "fill with oil" not where to put it.

While you are adding oil as others have indicated, when finished, go
up to the other wing nut on the valve cover cap "hootus" and take it
off and clean the screen. Berryman's Chem tool aerosol is perfect
for the job.
