ford jubilee

I just picked up the ford jubilee and found. That in
order to get it to move i have to full throttle the
tractor to get to take off. Once moving its fine.
anything under half throttle even on pavement she
starts out slow and then grabs and takes off. i also
have noticed that even a small mound of dirt in
front of the tire from a stop i have to full
throttle it to roll over it. Any ideas clutch maybe
although i do not smell clutch burning and i did
adjust the clutch pedal. Any ideas anybody

clutch?

if the clutch is bad when you let it out with high throttle.. the engine won't stall down .. it will just slowly start rolling.

if it is instead an engine problem.. like foreing on 3, no governor or super lean, then it will drag the engine down to the point of stall when you let the clutch out.

which is yours doing?

PS.. if you think the clutch is slipping. see what the pto does on a big load like a mower.

there are a couple other more rare situations that would allow a slow roll and no engine bogging, and NOT the clutch.. but lets exhaust the common stuff first.

It does take off on a slow roll and then build power quick with no engine bogg. I can take it out on my gravel road and drop the back blade she will just sit there but if i full throttle the engine she jumps digs in and pulls like there is nothing there. although i have to quickly lower the throttle as to keep the speed down. Could there be a valve that operates the clutch that"s hanging up? Any help you have i would appreciate. The funny thing is there is no clutch burn smell as in cars with a clutch that is bad. THANKS Greg

soundguy- could he have some oil on his clutch plate causing it to slip a little until he applies full throttle? Therefore, fully engaging the clutch.

I don't know. I do have a masters in the auto field. But never worked on a tractor. I have no problem working on the motor. But when it comes to splitting a tractor in half to replace a clutch I don"t think i have the right equipment. What do you think? Clutch?

Totally off topic, I know, but I Spy something hiding underneath a tarp that has very interesting wheels on it. What is that Mr. Mcinnes?

Its a 1930 ford model A. That's the next one i'm going to restore. That's what i'm saying I've worked on cars all my life but not tractors the engine fine braking the tractor in half i just don't know. think i'm going to have to find a tractor guy in my area. Any ideas??

We may not be able to answer even if you told us where your "area" is, but we sure can't if we don't know!
