Subject: How to adjust lift on 1963 Ford 2000 gasoline 4 cylinder tractor?

I have a Ford 2000 1963 tractor with 4 cylinder gasoline engine that I bought new in 1963. I gave it to my father and after he died he gave it back to me. He had had the lift totally rebuilt before he died. It now will lift okay but you have to have the lift lever about one inch from the top for it to lift and it will lift all the way up and hold. When letting the lift down the lift lever moves about one inch from the top and the lift goes all the way down. There is no in-between with the lift lever. It lifts all the way up or all the way down. Can any adjustment be made to the lift lever on the right side of the tractor so that there is a range between the lift being all the way up or all the way down?

i question if the lift was actually fully rebuilt.. or perhaps just the orings and lift piston oring and washer.

Many people neglect to replace the cam follower pin and the cam surface, or to readjust to book spec using the alternate method in absence of the nuday tools.

There is a small lever near the base of the main lift control handle that switches the 3 point from draft control mode to position control mode. Make sure that it's in position control mode.

Thanks, I have tried that and it doesn't make any difference.

I know that my Dad paid over $450 for the repair job but I do not know what was done. You may be right about the repair job. The guy had done repairs on the tractor before and my Dad trusted him but I am sure my Dad did not know what was done.
The mechanic is not around anymore to find out.

450$???

could get a new ( good working rebuilt ) top cover for that, plus instalation, and then still had change.. !!!

Soundguy, I am in need of lift cover for 3000. Can you share who sells rebuilt lift covers. I searched and could not find anyone selling.
