Ok I have read dozens of post about this and have not got the answer I am looking for.
I have a 62' 851 and it was starting fine then while I was working on it I shorted out the solenoid. I went to tractor supply and got a new solenoid and wired it up the same as the one I took off. I went ahead and got new connectors and a new cable for the starter. Well all went well and I ran the tractor for a while and noticed smoke coming from the starter so I turned the tractor off. I tried to restart but it did nothing. The starter had apparently never stopped spinning while the tractor was running so I took the starter off and had it rebuilt. Brought it home and installed it along with another solenoid I got from a tractor dealer. It did the same thing only this time it didnt turn off when I turned the key off.
It has a 12v 4 post solenoid the top big lug goes to the battery and has another yellow and red wire connected to it that I dont know where it goes. The S terminal wire is connected to the keyed switch. the I terminal was actually connected to the starter along with the bottom Large lug.
Can someone tell me the problem I am having..
