I have a 3610 Ford gas and I am chasing a problem. It runs for about 30 minuts and quits. I have cleaned the fuel lines, no help I have cleaned the float bowl and did a carb kit no help, I have replaced points and coil no help I have now converted to electronic ignition now no help. When it quits it seems like it is running out of fuel but fuel is ok, It wont start back up at that time but walk away and come back the next day and it will start up and run great for about 30 minuts while mowing and then quit again. I am totaly fustrated now and at a loss is there any body out there that may have had this issue? Help please

First thing to figure out is whether it's losing spark or fuel when it quits. Pull a plug wire, ground it and see if it makes spark?

Check the gas tank, I had a piece of rubber floating around in mine and it would get sucked into the pick-up and the tractor would quit. Let it sit and it would start back up and run until the pick-up got blocked again.

Check the fuel filters for crud (there should be two, one in the tank and an inline sed bowl you can see) also the gas cap to make sure it is venting. If it sounds like it is starving for fuel it probably is.

There should actually be 3 or 4 fuel filters. First one is a screen inside the tank on top of the fuel shutoff assembly. The second one is a screen in the top of the fuel pump up on the front of the engine. The third is inside the sediment bowl, it looks like a stack of washers. The fourth one may or may not be there, but if it is, it is inside the fitting where the line from the sediment bowl enters the carburetor.

I think Rod pegged it.
Always check your spark first!
When it quits, immediately get out of the seat and Verify that you have a bright bluish white spark that will jump 3/8".
Short or yellowish spark will not do.
Requires no tools to pull a plug wire and check.
Only then go on to fuel.

I installed an in line gas filter, mistake, tractor would vapor lock. Yes it sounded like it was runing out of gas and it was. I installed a see through gas filter and you could see the vapor lock develope.

I had to buy a new tank and get rid of the in line filter.
