Drawbar Hitch

What's the best way to stabilize your 3pt. draw bar with a ball hitch on it? I'd like to just back up to my trailers and snatch 'em with the 3pt. but the bar rolls over too much. Is there something that's sold or something you've fabricated I could use?

we just weld a piece of angle on the back of the grader box, cut a hole in it, and put a ball on it for use as the same.

You can buy one or make one- your choice. Lots of guys have posted photos here of ones they made. They all involve "locking" the drawbar to one or both of the lift arms.

$22 at Tractor Supply and you are all set.

Lots of different ones sold. Some really simple.
Here's my Rube Goldberg home made job.
Under bumper receiver turned upside down and
bolted to the top of my 11 hole drawbar.
I welded the two uprights to it. Works well in the quick hitch.
Can be a bit of a pain to put on without the quick hitch.
Works well though.

I haven't used it, but I am intrigued by Red Rock's repop of the Greene Engineering drawbar lock. Check it out over at redrockmfg dot com

Might have to get one.

I simply lengthen my top link and place a pin and clip through the draw bar. Got to remember not to lift the 3pt hitch.

keep it simple, bend your own of whatever size rod you feel is enough. This one is hardened steel, had to heat to bend but 3/8" mild steel is strong enough and can be bent without heat. I move my trailers around with it.

Remember: when using the ball on the crossbar with
a brace to insure the crossbar does not turn.

If you do not use the stabilizer bars from the ends
of the cross bar up to the top connection as
pictured.

If the load on the trailer shifts to the back of the
trailer raising the tongue fast and hard. Without
the up stabilizer, you could ruin your lift system.

This can also happen when going down a hill.

Just be careful, you do not want to break a lift arm
or ruin your lift system.

The hitch that connects under the belly of the
tractor offers the most stable hitch in my opinion.
