Rear tractor tire loading

We have an old farm tractor we use for mowing, rear tires are loaded. Just had one go bad and it must be replaced. Is there any reason they both need to be loaded? We don't need the extra traction and not being loaded makes it convenient.

You should have them both empty or both full. Having one filled and the other empty can cause a better chance of a roll over

Not trying to argue for only one loaded tire, but... My 8N has only one tire loaded, it was like that when I bought it. I read many times in the forums where it was said that it was common to find only the furrow side loaded. Personally I would like to have both mine loaded for a little more traction in the rear.
