I didn't get much done on it this weekend.
Sorry.
I did get the axle out from under it and into the pickup to get sandblasted.
This front end is in pretty good shape. All the tie rod ends look nearly new. Rubber boots all there and good.
That part # is a standard front bushing used on a bunch of different Ford tractors.
Got one dry end on one spindle - wore the bushing good but not into the housing. - The rest of them are good. You can which end in the picture. Pin is very hard so okay - ream to fit. I'll get by with one bushing.
Will inspect the center bushing in the axle when it comes back from the sandblaster.
Thrust bearings are only $20 ea but these are fine with a clean and regrease.
I took the cylinder apart too. It all looks good.
A couple questions for Bern:
Should I just replace the metal piston ring as a matter of course? No scoring in the bore - nor on the shaft. The whole unit worked fine.
Havent looked at the actuating spool yet.
Do you have any suggestions about renewing seals, etc in there?
That front seal on these cylinders are kind of goofy. No snap ring, etc.
What do you do, glue them in?
I didn't take it out yet either.
