I have a lot of tractors, and sometimes forget each ones little quirks....my only excuse...
needed the muscle/weight of my 5000 with loader, filled 18.4-30's,
counterweight, etc, to remove a fairly large tree.
Hopped on and turned the key....click.
Darn battery is dead? got my voltmeter.
battery voltage looks good, no drop when I turn the key, ok, bad connection somewhere. started at the battery and started cleaning, tightening.
Well, when I got down to the starter/solenoid (last cuz it's pretty tight in there with the loader)
there was that little dumb blade connector solenoid wire....unplugged...it's happened before, I had just given it a squeeze and plugged it back on previously.
Just forgot about that quirk....
Looked around sheepishly to make sure no 'real' mechanics had seen my 'duh'
and got to work.
(oh well, at least I have all clean-tight connections now)
ps after loosening up the dirt a bit around the base, that 5000 pulled the entire big tree over in First/low without even grunting.
