I purchased a 851 with a ford front loader and the hood and grill were not on it. the previous owner (deceased) said it was too much of a pain to put on and left it off while he owned it. I want the protection for my radiator so I put the hood on and started with the grill, that's were I ran into a problem. The grill has a slot on the bottom that the pump shaft goes through but it appears like the clutch on the shaft will rub against the grill when it is installed. I assume I will have to remove the pump and slide the shaft out then put the grill on. After that I will reinsert shaft and replace pump. Is this the only way to do it. I thought about cutting the slot all the way down so i could just slide it on behind the clutch but was not sure that even if I did do this that the clutch would end up rubbing. I really don't want to cut the slot if it is going to anyway or if there is an easier way to do this considering a replacement grill is $250.
i have pictures but it wont let me put them on this post.
