'64 Ford 2000 Hydraulic Problem

Hope this hasn"t been beat to death: After running the tractor for about an hour brushing hogging the 3pt lift fails to raise. When the tractor is "cold" the oil level is correct and the lift works properly. I have not drained or replaced the rear-end or transmission oil since acquiring the tractor last year. I have added TSC universal transmission fluid which meets Ford spec 134D(spec???)I am familiar with bleeding the pump to prime it, but what could be causing the problem after things are "hot"

Most likely internal leakage in the hydraulic circuit. Cylinder piston O-ring is a likely suspect.

Remove the inspection cover on the side of the differential housing and inspect with engine running and load on lift.

Should I be able to hold my finger against the pump after I remove the pipe plug. It seems very little pressure coming out of the pump. I bleed the system but seems not to hold pressure and stops working within a few minutes,

Not if unloaded, remember 8th grade science, pressure is resistance to flow, open pipe to sump when unloaded might be 40 psi, with super low idle flow and 60 yr normal leaks, it may nit push a thumb off at idle

And something to push against other than a back pressure valve.

put an implement on the lift, raise handle, then look at flow and pressure at the test ports, could chain lift, put valve in port and exercise it, see pressure and look for leaks too
