im working on the dual power and pto on an 8000. this tractor still has the original hydraulic filter. dad says when he was at the ford dealer they installed filter kits on 8000 tractors. does anyone know of a filter kit available, if so does anyone have the template for drilling holes in the housing.i can't see spending the customers money without a good filter on the tractor. i have my dealer looking to see whats available.

I seriously doubt if the parts are available. Probably looking at a junkyard. Your local dealer may have the template you need. I remember installing quite a few of those kits. That was mid 70's.

Seems to me the template was in a service bulletin. I can try to look it up. As for the parts, I'd be shocked if you could buy any of them anymore new from NH. You might be better off scrounging what you need off of a wrecked 9600 or similar.

Give me a few days on the template. I'll let you know what I find.

I installed that filter on my 9000 this winter when I had it split. I purchased the two tubes and the manifold from a salvage yard. I borrowed the template and service bulletin from a guy that was a Ford mechanic years ago. I would think any dealer that has been around since the 70's would have the template.

Very nice pics CTK, thanks for sharing that.

Juniur, 3 parts is all you will need to scrounge up, plus the filter. I'll look for the template tomorrow.

bern,

i dug through our "archives" and found the service bulletin #9-75. looking for the template locally.

correct. i found the bulletin. i didnt even know we had old bulletins. the template is a nuday 6290 i have not been able to locate one. if you know someone that would rent/ loan/ sell im interested.

Hmmm....I thought the template was in the bulletin. I think I will go take a peek myself. I have to go that way anyway today. Will let you know what I find.

Just got back from my local dealer, and you're right, the template is a separate steel part. I looked around the tool room and did not see it. I know I did a 9600 once, but that was 25 plus years ago. The template is likely long gone.

Myself, I would use the manifold as a template, and use the pic in the bulletin to give you a good idea as to where to locate the holes. I think if you're careful you could get it close enough. The distance between the ends of the pipes, plus the fact that they are located in fat o-rings, gives you a little leeway to be off just a tad. You could always bend the pipes a little if you had to also.

thank you for looking bern. im waiting to here from the salvadge if they have the tubes and manifold. i have several customers with 8600's i may crawl under one and take some measurements.
