Recently got a 851 that key switch added with start position. This eliminates the neutral safety start button. How do I Hooke this back up and replace if needed??
The 841 wire going to button is common to ground/ chassis

You need to have the proper starter solenoid for the NSS to work as designed. The solenoids on the X01 series look just like the ones Ford used on so many cars and trucks. But they are NOT, the same. The tractor solenoid closes when you apply ground via the NSS. The car solenoids ground via the mounting bracket and close when you put power to them.

So...you need to determine what kind of solenoid you have and if the wrong kind obtain the new one. Echlin ST542 is the right one.

Thanks cbrown. It looks like solenoid has been changed or something. It's not original to tractor and is hanging behind air cleaner( not mounted). I'll get a closer look to see how it's grounded and look at a oem one.

f solenoid is not grounded by its base, then you may have the correct solenoid, just bypassing the NSS. If it has two small terminals, trace out where the wires go.

I'll check that out. If I can figure out how to do it without buying another solenoid would be great.
