Hope I might get a few suggestions thanks. I cannot move the lift lever on my tractor as I always have. It might move an inch but very hard to move it. The arms will go up but fall as I release the lever.

It's a 64 4 cyl gas. Can barely move the lever it's stiff just quits like it runs into something. I can hold the arms up if I continue to hold it. Release and they fall. 2 weeks ago mowed pasture it was fine. Removed mower parked in shed til yesterday

1, if the lever drops when you let go.. the friction disc has had it.

2, if it is hard to move. it likely has some rusty corrosion going on.

when you take it down to do the cork disk hit it with penetrant oil and get it moving freely first. if no go. invest in the 13$ top cover kit and pull the cover

I'll try some spray but what you say makes me think friction disc. We'll see at least I have some idea. And what kinda repair job is the friction disc?

Friction disk is a fairly simple replacement if that's the problem.
Part #45 here.
