5200 WATER PUMP

Almost done cutting hay and parked the tractor at dark. When I shut down the engine I heard "that noise". I found the water pump shaft loose and the plastic bearing cage exposed with no bearings. I checked Messick's and found pumps, remanufactured pumps and rebuild kits. The prices jump around all over. I want the right repair not the kinda ok repair. Who's pump and which one for a tractor that plows, plants, cuts and bales hay. I am in south Texas so the water pump must be good.

PS just now checking at YT for the pump. Would like to be loyal to the site but I can't do without the Ford so I have to do it right.

I'd go with a NewHolland reman front half. You don't need the whole pump, just the front portion and the gaskets. That's probably about as economical as you can get compared to buying the rebuild kit and installing it yourself... and that may not be any cheaper. One of my former dealers would not sell me an A&I water pump... and he sold a lot of A&I parts... he didn't say exactly why, but wasn't recommending them... so I suspect he knew something more than he was saying.

That is what I needed to know. Thinking about a new pump for around $200 and rebuilding this one for the other 5000. It is not a row crop though. Need to check to see if they are the same.

They're likely different pulley arrangements. Personally my time is more valuable than suffering over a water pump rebuild... I just by the halves. You need a press and probably a dial indicator to install the kit. It's a long time since I changed one..
