Had a new clutch put in my 5200 (tall 1975 5000, with dual power). The dual power unit was gone through as well. Had it at the long time neighborhood tractor mechanic, they do good work but maybe not so many fords.
About hurt myself when I got it back, the old clutch was wore out and engaged when the pedal was all out...
When I got it back, the pedal had to be all the way in, there was a whole lot of pedal free play.
So getting through the spring, now it really doesn't want to shift. The pedal free play is about in the middle of travel now. At idle I can shift it, when just starting out the day I can shift it.
But at half throttle, the clutch must be dragging along. Pedal all the way in, and have to bump the lever out of gear, and chatter it back into gear.
Feels like I'm just kinda loosing the clutch.....
Is this an adjustment thing, or is it an internal thing that isn't right, or what's going on? I know I'll go talk to the mechanic, but.....
This is the same tractor that has now had 3 new genuine New Holland instrument clusters put in, they went 2.9 hours, .9 hours, and just this week again .9 hours and stop counting hours. Guess I just have to give up on having a good dash cluster. That is just too dang frustrating to deal with, 3 bad ones in a row. No wonder there are cheap China knockoffs out there, at least they are only $150 to not work.....
Anyhow I am feeling sorry for harping my mechanic, he has to eat all this running around with the dash which isn't his fault, I'd like to better understand what the deal is with the clutch now.
And, I can't tell you how many hours I've put on the clutch..... ;( all the planting, some hay, some spraying, some harrowing......
