2000 oil filter leak

'Morning. I am NOT a Ford expert and would appreciate any insight. Neighbor's 2000 has a tremendous oil leak around the filter AFTER a change out. I was there to help hand tools so saw it. After looking at several on-line diagrams it appears that some parts were missing from the canister setup. There were only the center bolt, the canister, the O-ring to the block, a metal washer, and a rubber washer. Diagrams show a spring and a spacer.

I'd appreciate any help before I travel to the dealer. They first sent him home with a spin-on filter so I'm suspicious.

Ford 2000
Tractor # 8247719
Model # B1028C
Engine 9F24B

Thanks in advance

Yep, sounds like he's missing some parts. But I've seen plenty of those canisters leak. If it were me, I'd just get the adapter so I could use a spin-on.

Without the spring, spacer, etc., he has no oil filter.

I too recommend the modestly priced spin-on filter adapter.

cartridge is a napa 1004.

double check the place the canister seats. many times old gasket stays there and causes the leak.. other times the flange is bent.

either get the parts to keep the cartridge in place or as the others mentioned. get the spin on kit..

Just a thought... my cousin just changed his 5000 over to a spin on filter. He may be willing to sell the parts you need.
