Suing everyone but Soxbill again!! No fuel to injectors!!

I quote Soxbill---"If you have a defective injector pump that is on the verge of dying, a can of bg will clean it up and let it die faster."

I put in a can of BG 244 about 2 or 3 weeks ago in a perfectly fine running tractor(except for an occasional shot of ether). About the length of time I figure it would have taken for the BG 244 to hit the engine the tractor quit and wouldn't start even though I was getting fuel to the injectors, I bled everywhere and changed the fuel filter as I saw crud and water in the containers i got the bleed from. Got it started and ran it for a couple of hours and decided I needed a new batt cable, so about 2 weeks ago in the process of replacing it I busted the solenoid cap by over tightening. So the tractor has been sitting uncranked for about 2 weeks with BG 244 still in the fuel, new solenoid finally came and I installed it today and now I am I can't get fuel to the injectors. Bled, drained, etc everything and still no fuel when I crack the injectors.

??First thing tomorrow I am going to have some one come by and try to drag it to start it.????

If that doesn't work I will Drain tank and all lines as best I can and replace with new non BG fuel.???

P.S. Fuel cutoff is definitely pushed in and on and connected, throttle is connected and working.

If that doesn't work I'm gonna have to be calling my lawyer on y'all again.

Thanks
WJ

Did you ever drain all of the water and the crud that always accompanies water out of your fuel tank?

Recently had a similar problem, turns out the supply linkage
was sticking inside the housing on the injector pump even tho
the cutoff was pushed in. Loosened the housing a little,
sprayed some lube in and tapped on the housing lightly while
sliding the cutoff out and in. Fired right up. I think Deiseltech
and Samm40 had given me the idea. Credit to them.

I thought I got all the water but maybe not all the crud. When I crack the filter drain screw or drain some from the tank shut off valve I didn't see any water this time but the diesel is not as clear as I would like. What has me concerned is that 2 weeks ago when it wouldn't start, I was getting fuel to the injectors and think I fixed fixed it by draining SOME water cruddy fuel and replacing the fuel filter, now I'm not getting fuel to the injectors.

Are you talking about the CAV pump where there is a nub that engages the slider?

The bg will super clean the tank, lines, injector pump and injectors. It can cause the tank to clog, or the filters to clog.. due the huge amount of "stuff" in the tank..

From the filters on, it will super clean and eventually open up all the ports on the injector tips and make it start quicker and run smoother. Again, if the pump is failing, cleaning off the goop will not help it... For instance on the older ford trucks, the pump has a Teflon governor ring that will eventually come part.. And cleaning it will just allow it to come apart quicker. However the cleaning should allow the the pump to have more pressure and pump better as the passages are fully opened up..

Don't drain the bg, it needs to do its job. but do check all the filters and screens for gunk.. especially if you have the black algie growing in the fuel tank. It will drive you crazy as it floats around and randomly stops the fuel flow. It will clump together and form a black gooie ball of snot and often will have to be fished out of the tank with a coat hanger if its bad enough. Bg will kill the algie but cannot remove large amounts out of the tank, so if you have that problem, you might have to drain the tank and clean the goo out. I had that problem on a super dexta that said for 20 years with a full tank.
good luck getting all the gremlins out..

Had a 574 that was a 1 hour tractor. Long story
short; there was a piece of rubber from a siphon
hose floating in the tank. Took about an hour for
it to float over the fuel intake and stop the
tractor. Have you checked to see if the fuel pick
up is plugged?

If the pump bleed screw is peeing strong can I assume no filters are clogged?

What/where is the specific Oring ,when replacing the canister fuel filter, that you are not supposed to use? I ran across that mentioned while researching some older threads but didn't understand which Oring/ seal they were referring to. I don't anticipate that being my problem because I ran the tractor for about 2 hours after replacing the filter about 2 weeks ago.

I get good flow when unscrew the tank on/off valve all the way out.

make sure the cutoff cable is pushing the kill lever all the way back into the run position...

And at the injectors the amount of fluid it will pump is tiny, tiny, tiny... so each crank it will barely flow when the lines are loosen....

As others said, if sims pump, you could have a stuck rack that keeps the fuel cut off.

Tell m more about the fuel shut off as it crossed my mind because I hit bumped the cable goin to it whilst reinstalling the starter.?
By the way I got it running so I have decide against any further legal remedies

The cutoff cable must push the lever all the way forward to turn the fuel back on... you may have to take it loose and readjust it... but make sure the lever is alll the way forward to where it hits the built in stop.

From the law offices of dewey cheatum and howe.

Soxbill, the tip that the lever needs to hit the stop is a good one, I would have assumed close was good enough, mine was close but not touching. I must have knocked it out of adjustment when removing/reinstalling the starter.
Also think I didn't understand how much cranking it can take to prime this system. I suppose that Is why so many people mention priming by drag starting.

I think I also have the fuel gremlins you spoke of but hopefully not the dreaded black algae. I am tempted to drain the tank via removing the whole tank shutoff valve and probably replace the fuel filter again except that I hate to waste the rest of the BG that's still in there. I think I have about 4 or 5 hours of BG running time on it.
Thanks again to you and everyone else for your help. :)

Sometimes you move forwards a step,, and then there are days where you go backwards 5 steps. I have had to just walk away from some tractors and let them rest a bit.... But then I go back and finally get 'em done.

Luckly I have enough tractors around that I can works some, fix some, and sell some.

btw..

My neighbor had all of his tools out on the driveway... and lined them up... and then he proceeded to beat the crap out of his lawnmower.. He threw it down, flipped it over, hit with with a sleage hammer, and then took his torch and cut it in half. I watched a minute, and then had to go over and ask him..
""Tom, What in the world are you doing????""

He said,
""Well you see, my lawn mower refused to start, so I lined up all my tools and made them watch what happens to them if they dont start... So they will all know they better work or else.""

Sotxbill, good story, reminds me of some golfers I caddied for.!
I went out this afternoon and to my surprise it started like a new one. I mowed for an hour or so and it it started the high RPM thing it does when it knows it is fixing to run out of gas so I headed to the shed and let it run, parked a little sidehill towards the fuel tank shutoff, got off and kept rocking it side to side, thinking I wanted to get all that BG out, until it ran out of fuel.
Tomorrow i'm gonna take the 2 weeks old fuel filter off and eyeball, if looks good I'll fill with fresh diesel, prime, start and never touch the fuel system again.
Thanks to Y'ALL I HAVE 0-ZERO fuel system leaks.

(quoted from post at 06:07:27 07/12/14) Sounds like a counter-suit on defamation charges might be in order.

Or counter suit for a frivolous law suit... :)
Hopefully, since no suit was filed a counter-suit is moot?
