Will 801 series trans fit 601?

I have been looking for a 5 speed to swap into our sos 671 tractor and am curious which others will fit, the 801 series appear similar but wanted to be sure and figured someone here would know for sure! thanks guys

There was a change in spline count at some point, as well as a change in where the brake shaft passes through, but in general any of the 601, 701, 801, or 901 trannies will fit. Prior model 2000 and 4000's can also be donors.

Make sure you get the block plate that was with the transmission. Somewhere between the 00 and 01 series the thickness of the block plate changed and if you don't use the right one it will mess up your clutch settings.

Thanks for the advice, what was the difference with the earlier 00 series? it appears similar aside from the different hydraulic lines to the pump

You're also going to need the PTO setup from the donor tractor in order to have a working PTO. The independent PTO on the S-O-S was completely different from the ones on the manual transmissions.
