How easy to change out injectors on 4600?

Getting ready to either change out all 3 injectors or just replace the tips on each injector for my 1980 Ford 4600 SU. How easy is it and is there anything I should watch out for or pay close attention too? The injectors work ok except we think 1 or more may have poor adjustment or improper spray pattern.

Thanks

Ok so rebuilt in meaning replacing the tips or something else? Also does comparable cost mean by comparing new aftermarket or new OEM? Aftermarket is a lot cheaper but not sure there just as good as I've had bad experiences with some aftermarket stuff.

The hardest part is prying the old ones loose. Installing the new ones and bleeding them off is a piece of cake. They are not difficult to get to. Not too hard of a job.

Hi Just checking you do know you can't just swap the
tips yourself, You have to have the proper equipment
to test the injector and set the crack pressures and
do the drip tests. This is something I read about
with guys on another forum, thinking they can do
this like putting plugs in the truck.
If your worried about cheap replacements from
jobbers, find a real good experienced pump, injector
shop in your area and pay for yours to be done.
Regards Robert

Yes my dealer says he will rebuild them for me to save some cash. Thanks for asking though.

As Oh Boy said, the toughest part is prying them loose. I am sure that there was a Nuday tool for that, but I found that a small, as in six inch carpenter's pry bar worked very well.

Thank you for that note. I will look for one of these today. Other than that just take old out and put new or rebuilt ones back in correct?

Be sure that you get new copper sealing washers and felt rings if available for that one.

ok will do. Thanks

when removing the fuel lines is there a particular way I should do this? How hard are they to remove considering they have been connected for a long time. Do you just pull them off or should I massage them off with a flat head screw driver etc?
