my 2000 diesel has been a great tractor but now I hear the hyd pump (for the lift) mounted on the left side and I assume runs of the flywheel making strange noises.....sounds like sucking air and not all of time....come and goes. tubing out of right rear sump area for the rear end looks good. guess i should bleed it first and check for air?? is the bleed screw in back or on the side down around 8:00?
Thanks for any replies

You should probably check the seal on the suction line to the pump. Older ones have a block that holds both lines. I think it uses square rings. Later models use an O-ring and the line just pushes in to it. You could try cleaning the area and squirt some oil on. If it's leaking it will suck the oil in. You have to take the pump off to replace the O-ring. There is also a large O-ring between the pump body sections that's on the suctions side.

thanks for reply mike.....I forgot to mention that three point lift works perfectly and oil level is good. is there an exploded view of this stuff or pictures?

Here's a link to the parts diagram for that hydraulic pump and the external lines on the New Holland parts site (New Holland owns the legacy of the Ford tractor brand and parts catalog):

[u:c813dd83c1]3 cylinder Ford 2000 hydraulic pump and external lines parts diagram[/u:c813dd83c1]

Use the slide control at the bottom of the picture to zoom in, and then drag the picture around with your mouse to move it to the part that you're interested in. The diagram covers all of the various types of line ends/connectors that they used over the years for the 2000/3000 lines which are the same, plus the 4000 lines, which are different from the 2000/3000 lines, so you have to know how to pick out what you're looking for.

Early 2000/3000 lines were a single assembly with the lines permanently attached to a block on the end that connected to the right side of the rear end, part labelled 52 in the diagram near the bottom right. Note there are two parts labelled 52. The one on the left is for the 2000/3000, and the one on the right is for the 4000. Later 2000/3000 lines were separate, parts labelled 68 & 73 in the diagram, a little higher up in the picture. The later 4000 lines are labelled 69 & 74.
