Ford 5000 hydro oil change question

Just bought a 68 Ford 5000 gas with loader. I am looking at different manuals and cannot find where the hydraulic oil plugs are to drain and fill the system. Also where the filters are. Can anyone send me photos with arrows?

Thanks,

Are you asking about the 3 point lift hydraulics or the loader hydraulics?

The 3 point hydraulics sump is in the rear axle center housing. Some of the later 5000's had a common sump for the transmission and rear axle/hydraulics, but I believe there were still two drain plugs. But I'm pretty sure that all '68 5000's had separate sumps.

Lots of loaders on Ford tractors had a separate pump on the front of the tractor just for the loader hydraulics, and the reservoir was in the frame of the loader itself. If that's what you have, then there is also usually a removable plate on the bottom of the loader frame below one of the uprights that has the filter on top of the plate, up inside the frame, so you have to drain the fluid and then remove the plate to change the filter.

might even be inverted. My 5000 is in mothballs waiting till i can tackle a clutch.. but last year I vaugely remember using a breaker bar on a drain plug.. and then of course dropping it in the pail of oil too. :)

The original Ford Owner/Operator Manuals have very good diagrams showing exactly what you're looking for.
