Rebuilt my power steering pump. Lubed it up while putting it back together. With pulley on the unit on the bench seem to turn free by hand. Now have put it on tractor put hyd oil in and bolted it up, about to put belt on - but now seems to have a hard spot or two while turning by hand.

Does that sound normal - would not think it is building pressure and causing those hard spots when turning by hand just because it now has oil in it.

But I don't know so asking the question.

Just thinking. Do you have the hoses attached. If yes, and you spin the pump you will be building pressure in the lines that is relieved by the pressure relief valve. That could match what you describe.

Thanks for the reply Kurt - yes, hoses are connected and hyd oil in
system.

Guess at this point I will put the belt on and give it a try and just
watch very close for a bit.
