haveing trouble with carburator flooding even with engine running. Has anybody ever by passed the fuel pump and ran gas line from tank to carb and tryed it just wandering

Since you mention a fuel pump, I'll assume this is a 3-cylinder, '65-'75 model. Because of the relative positions of the tank and carb, gravity flow will not work well. If it's constantly flooding, I'd be looking at the float and needle and seat.

Is it running with the original mechanical fuel pump on the front of the engine? If so, then you should be able to get it to stop flooding by replacing or adjusting the float and/or needle valve. If someone has replaced the original fuel pump with an electric pump that produces more than 4 psi or so of pressure, then you should go back to the stock setup.
