Stamped on the left front side of trans.housing are the following numbers : 881 and just below that is 86768.I cant find these numbers or anything close to this #.The front and rear fenders are gold in color. It does have the optional 540-1000 rpm trans.with the lever on left front side of trans. at the other end of trans.are the following numbers:312259,below that is CWC and below that is F239.The engine is stamped just above the oil pan on the right side #60918. I must say that the last two numbers on the engine# appear to be n upsidedown#1 and an upsidedown #3 that makes it look like a #8 so It could be #60918 or #60913.What am I doing wrong or where can I find this serial number. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks

F239 is the engine build date code
F- June
23
1959

Your tractor serial # is 86768
That is a June 1959 build date also.
First tractor built in June was 85685 and the last one was 90984

Since we have matching date codes for the trans and motor I would say you do NOT have a gold demo.
The last gold demo was built in mid March 1959.

Your model # is 881

I was working in the Dealer Relations Dept of Ford Tractor in Aug 1959. At that time there were many hold out dealers that had not yet ordered a Gold Demo. Pressure was constantly being applied on the holdout dealers to order one. It is unknown if any ever ordered one or if so was it a SOS as the Dept head Mr Fred Thompson often told us that they could order it any "Damn" way they wanted it. I sincerely don"t believe anyone can say when the last Gold Demo was produced as after the initial run they were built to the dealers order.

With the 312259 numbers, would this be the red transmission? Did they change the numbers if the transmission was updated to the blue one?

Thanks....Jack

Yes! The 312259 is typically the red transmission, although I've have seen an exception.

The first blue transmission was a C0NN-7006-B, followed shortly by a C3NN-7006-B

First off you had better check your numbers again , The engine block is a CASTING NUMBER not stamping and it is not upside down , IT SHOULD READ 310609 . IF the serial number READS 66768 THAT would be correct for a Gold Demo , IF it reads 86768 it still COULD be a Gold Demo but someone changed the TRANSMISSION to a LATER 1959 one that's all . ALL Gold Demos built CAN be traced to the three month period between Jan. - March 1959 with serial numbers between 60692 and 71500 as Alan has said before in a lower post and all Gold Demos have a Select-o-speed Transmission that was the purpose of the tractors regardless of what others may try to lead you to believe. Thanks Tony
