4600 power steering issue

Have a 76' 4600
power steering got stiff, so I took it down and discoverd a broken plunger spring in the control valve.
Ordered and Replaced.
Now the tractor will turn to the left with one finger, will turn right only with considerable effort.
Could I have gotten the "special horned" plungers switched? Would this cause the valve to fail to releive?
Am I over looking something simple? Any direction would be greatly apprecieated.

I'm gonna assume this is an SU tractor with the double drop arm steering? If so, how did you tighten the preload nut? Bottom out, back off one flat and stake as I recall.
