posted a while back about a running Farmall with a badly bent rod.
Well, got a Ford one too...
Scrap price 57 850. PO said on the first start of the year, a 'rod was knocking' He didn't allow starting it when buyers looked at it because it was 'loud' (I'll bet it was....)
Pulled the pan and found lots of broken piston pieces and antifreeze.
Looked up and #2 rod wasn't hooked to the piston anymore.
Took the cap off and wiggled the rod out of there.
Bearing didn't look that bad actually.
Rod was bent AND twisted with the piston pin still in place. amazing forces.
piston was all the way up in there and battered, broken badly.
Did some tests to find out the cause before teardown.
Looks like a bad head gasket let #2 fill with coolant over winter, and when it started (surprisingly) the hydro-locked #2 destroyed itself.
Pulled the head and the piston is wedged above the deck, luckily hitting the valve cutout, not the valves.
no valve damage at all.
Hopefully when I pound it up out of there, the sleeve will come with it. It's wedged tight.
I'll have to check for head and block cracks, and damage under that sleeve, because of the forces involved.....we'll see.
I am truly amazed that the rod didn't come out the side.
If anyone has a 800 rod, EAA6205A, laying around reasonable,
I'll need it, if the block, head, checks out.
