Ford 1910 alternator

I have an old Ford 1910 4wd tractor. Some mice moved in over the winter and destroyed the wiring harness. Here is my issue: this tractor sits for about 2.5 months every year and the mice move in. It has no real electrical components left except the alternator and Battery. The wiring was so badly damaged that I can"t figure out how to rewire the voltage regulator. I wpould be guessing. can I just replace the alternator with a self regulating one and no longer use the regulator? The tractor has no lights, flashers, fuel guage. Only a mechanical Tac and a glow plug circuit.

Can you repalce the alt with a 1 wire job?

that depends on your bracket making skills. I's think you probably COULD.

If you could ge ahold of the diagram for your machine you could also at least just point to point wire the vreg and alt over to the battery too. probbaly alot cheaper assuming your vreg and alt work..
