4500 Power Steering

or lack of it.

Seem to work "all right" when a got the TLB 3 years ago. It was never really robust, but i could turn the wheels standing still. It's a 67' gas. With about 4400 hours.

Power steering seems to have just gotten worse, to where is isn't any. Is there a filter somewhere I don't know about, or any other ideas?

Yes there is a filter. Both in the original setup with seperate reservoir which your tractor should have and in the modern style pump with integral reservoir. That might be one place to start.
Another thing to check is the pressure.
I think that steering system is about the same as the 4400 I'm working on. So the pressure should read about 1100 psi. Someone here can verify that.
If you have the old pump and the pressure is low you likely have a worn pump.
If you have the later style pump someone could have installed the wrong one. The ones for 2000,3000 etc will fit your tractor but pressure is set at only 800 psi.
If you do need to replace the pump buy the new style. They are about $225 on ebay, etc whereas the old style is $4-500.

If linkage is froze in front support it wont steer. Have to pull nose and rad. Will still be fun to freeup. I bot 1 about month ago. early one with ps getting oil from hyd system. King pins shot.Putting them in now. Hope dont have to go any deeper. Bot 5000 several years ago that was froze up. Had fun getting freed up. 4500 and 5000AP have same basic system.

Check your crankcase oil level. If it"s rising, and the PS oil dropping, suspect a blown gasket where the pump mounts to the engine.

A '67 would still have the old system (unless it had been changed over) IME - my '68 4500 does, my '7(2-3-4? I forget) has the reservoir on the pump

One real simple issue (if you should be so lucky) with the shared reservoir is that the Power Steering going away serves as a crude notice that the hydraulic package reservoir is low. There is also a pickup screen for the PS on the end of the tube in the nose tank.

1200-1300 PSI for a 4500 (just a bit higher than the 4400's)
