Ford 8N no spark

I have a 48 Ford 8N 12V converted side mount. last month, i left the key on and killed the battery (among other things). i replaced points, condenser, rotor (all TSC) and put in a charged 12V deep cycle. started right up and worked on some light yardwork for ~2 hours. started running rough and limped to the barn to park. turned off and added some more fuel. tried to restart and struggled to fire off and ran for ~ 15 sec.. i pulled the #2plug and was getting a weak yellow spark. i have replaced the dist cap, 437 spark plugs and copper core wires, coil (Napa 12V w/o ext resistor per souNdguys suggestion), new condenser, starter button (was getting finicky). I also wired the distributor so it no longer has that copper strip/stud but an insulated wire going from the points to the coil. Now, I am getting no spark from the coil when grounded. I am getting juice to the battery side but not the dist. i am also seeing the points grounded even when open (which is why I replaced the copper stud and strip). I am at a loss. What could be grounding the points when open? Also, ammeter is not moving during starting. New ignition switch from last fall too. I"m ready to order an EI or sell her.

48's front mount. but that's neither here nor there if you obviously have a side mount dizzy.

so.. power to the coil, and points are acting grounded all the time.

recheck condensor and your wire repalced copper strip and make sure you are not shorting at the breaker plate.

rare but condensors can be bad outta the box.. but I doubt you HAD a bad one and got a BAD one. that would be way too unreal.

tisco points are almost like crap. if they were a lil softer and brown and smelled.. you probably couldn't tll them apart. still.. your probs happened before you installed the crap points.. so I'd be looking at the breaer plate nad double check your feedthru wire aoin't shorted.
you can hok and unhook the outgoing primary side of the coil that wire is hooked to , with cap on, and a wire setup to a plug and see if unlooking that outgoing primary of the coil makes yer plugs fire. if so.. keep lookin inside and at the breaker plate.
