any tip for bleeding hydraulics after split i have no lift refilled 8 qts used same fluid for the 8n napa gl-1

53+ don't use gear oil in their hyds. UTF fluid is better bet. no wonder you can't get em bled!

.. bleeder id a plug, likely inverted head , on top of the back area of the pump.. at least if it is a piston type.

loosen plug to help bleed.

if it was my tractor i'd drain that oil and put in utf. OR.. cut it with a couple qts atf-f or other 10w oil.. or a quart of kerosene... sump can hold 12qts easilly... 8 is normal fill.

take a rubber tipped air blow gun and put it to the dipstick hole where the hyds sump is. give it about 5 psi air or a medium shot.. while engine is running mid throttle and 3pt lever up.

see if that helps it.

One more thing to try.

1. Remove the bleeder plug and fill the area below the plug with UTF oil. Replace the plug

2. Park the tractor nose down in a ditch so that the oil level is above the pump and start the tractor.

See if that helps. There is another option if that doesn't work.

Well, you've tried the quick approach to priming the pump. Its time for basic diagnostics. We need to determine if oil is getting to the pump and if the pump is working properly.

This is what I would do. Take the priming plug off the pump and go the hardware store. Pick up a hose barb fitting that matches the plug. Also get about 4 feet of clear plastic tubing that fits the hose barb and a hose clamp that fits the tubing. Attach the hose barb fitting to the priming hole and then attach the clear hose with the clamp. Place the other end of the hose in fill port on top of the top cover (under your seat) Now start the tractor and take look at the clear hose.

You will see one of three things.

1. Oil (and only oil) is moving through the hose. This is normal operation and the pump is working properly. Your problem is in the top cover.

2. Oil with air bubbles are moving through the hose. This is a sign that the wobble shaft seal is leaking. If this happens you should have some lift action. I don't think you will see this.

3. No oil is moving through the hose. If this is the case either you pump is not working or the oil passages are blocked.

I would start here and see where it takes you. At least you have isolated some of the systems and not spent a lot of $$$

Are you having fun yet?

[ok i picked up hose & fittings rianing today shop is full today may post findings later thanks for the input yea its fun & interresting put air to the sump with bleeder open oil comes out i can hear suction from pump thanks again.

At least you know that hydraulic oil is getting to the pump. Now you have to figure out if the pump is picking it up and pumping. Using the clear tube will tell you if the pump is working.

Keep us posted.
