whats the deal with these new fuel valvs

These new fuel valves you buy that go on the bottom
of the fuel tank are junk and I can't get the 1 gallon
reserve at 2 turns out r n r these new junk valves
different in regards two the way it cuts the level off ? It
would be nice to have that 1gallon reserve but I guess
alote of things would be nice I have put a inline valve
by the carb to keep from turning it maybe 2/3/4 times
and it wearing out.(JAPAN DONT MAKE EM LIKE WE
DID)

You didn't mention which Ford tractor you installed the fuel valve on but if it's a 1955 year model or later (X00, X01, X000 series) it doesn't have a "reserve" capability. It's either ON or OFF.

look at the valve. if it has 2 open stems inside the filter.. it COULD have a reserve. many only have 1 stem as texas mentions. or the other stem is solid. Later models have a different screeen and attach setup as well.
